Project Description

Writing Disorder (Dysgraphia)

Dysgraphia: Currently there are 3 types of writing disabilities in the research literature. We believe that finding what is causing your child to struggle with writing is essential.  For example, some children have excellent fine motor skills, but experience significant trouble with retrieving and “getting out” language on paper, despite having good language skills. Once again, the treatments for writing disabilities needs to be specific to the type of writing disability.

How to sight it:

  • difficulty with handwriting
  • difficulty with spelling
  • difficulty with fine motor tasks

What we can do to help: At Brain Learning we use both qualitative and quantitative approaches to identification of written language strengths and deficits. First, we identify the severity and details of the writing disability, while also identifying your child’s strengths. Second we recommend individualized researched based treatments for helping your child improve writing, and/or accommodate the disability.
